Race preview: The Race Around Rwanda
The winter break is almost over for the Ultra distance Dotwatching community as the first race of the season is almost upon us. There are plenty of new races popping up on the 2020 bikepacking and the first of them is the Race Around Rwanda.
The Race Around Rwanda is a 1000km self supported race around the land of a thousand hills. Rwanda’s nickname hints as to what is to come for the rider's participation in the inaugural race, as the name suggests Rwanda is not a flat country!

Their only portrait is a photography project run by Federico Cabrera. Fede has spent the past decade traveling South America on various bikepacking trips and the project was started in order to try and give something back to the small local communities he passed through on his travels.

South East Asia offers a variety of destinations for a backpacking trip. Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao and Thailand all offer unique cultures and experiences. Traffic can be a little hectic around bigger cities and on main roads, however they are used to slow moving mopeds and motorbikes so after a while you learn to become part of the flow of traffic.

As a child I always wanted to put my eye to daddy’s big camera. Kids look up to firemen and policemen, but I looked up at the war reporter and the superhero of my childhood, my dad. He was literally dodging bullets and bombs to tell the world what’s going on and report about people suffering the evil side of the human race. That and the fact I found cameras super sexy sparked a very early interest for filming.
