It was another beautiful day in Boulder, Colorado, as we sat in the US HQ of The Rider Firm we see the sun shining, the breeze floating through the evergreens, and just as we did in school, we find ourselves staring out the windows dreaming of riding our bikes. Then, just like in school, we were rudely awoken by a task that needs our immediate attention.
We’re lucky—no doubt about it. Working in the bike industry is a dream and we do it because we are passionate about bikes. But as almost anyone that is even remotely connected to the industry knows, it's a rough time out there, and although we are hopeful that we have seen the worst of it, in our day to day we still have deadlines that stack up, screens glare under fluorescent lights and we lose appreciation and temporarily forget what got us into these prized positions - our love for bikes and being outside with our mates.
Our MTB Brand Manager, who has been described as "exotic & perpetually irreverent" and "the charming and garrulously eloquent James Stokoe" was bouncing around the office with the energy of a 4 year old child who'd just shotgunned a 64 oz Mountain Dew - so we told him to grab his camera, get out the office and stop annoying us. So, to shake off the routine and reconnect with what truly fuels us, he linked up with our Supply Chain Specialist, Javier Lozano and together they hit up the local trails with the direction of grab a couple soul stealers to add to the content bank, and all in all, just have some damn fun.
